Olle Strandberg, Swedish circus director. He has a background in acrobatics and juggling. In December 2005 he broke his neck doing a triple somersault and was paralyzed from the neck down. Olle’s latest production, Underart, is based on his own story, but is not an exact staging of any precise course of events. Underart is about the events that are set in motion by a crash, and about the forces that move you forward afterward. Since the première in September 2014 Underart has been touring in Sweden, Austria, France, USA, Argentina and Brasil. Today Olle Strandberg is fully recovered and working as a director and creative project manager. The core of his creative work lies in the meeting of circus with dance and music, a place where hard physical work is alternated with dense pauses that leave room for the unpredictable. His previous production, the acclaimed Undermän was performed 160 times in Europe, North and South America. The enigmatic intimate presence and Nordic humor seduced the world, and is now a Strandberg signature. Olle is currently working for Cirkus Cirkör The third and closing part of Strandberg’ s Under trilogy will open 2017. Working with it he is exploring new ground in performing arts.
